The only downside to our little break in Mykonos, was that it felt like it flew by in the blink of an eye. One moment we were arriving at Gatwick, bleary eyed ready for our WH Smith and Boots runs for the 7am flight- and the next we were queueing up in Mykonos airport ready to head home…
Three days somewhere as beautiful as Mykonos will never be enough, but I feel very fortunate we got to tick it off at all- it just means we’ll have to plan a return soon, right? There’s a honeymoon idea if ever I saw one!
Our last night was possibly the most relaxed of all. We’d spent the morning at Ornos beach, with me paddling in the sea as Joe nursed his little burnt chest (trust me, he was laying on the factor 50, he’s a sensible Sally).
We headed back to the hotel for lunch- as by this point, I’d developed a real taste for their fresh Greek salads and was about 80% pitta, 10% tzatziki and 10% olive oil. It was then time to finish off my holiday reading (more on that here) and get ready for the evening- remind me why it’s taken me so long to book a beachy holiday again?!
I can’t believe in the 9 years Joe and I have been together, it’s taken this long for us to book a truly relaxing beachside holiday. We’ve always been city breakers through and through, and this holiday was definitely the one that I realised that perhaps we could both do with a bit of down time every now and again. I feel incredibly fortunate that my job entails a lot of travel as it is- some of which, do feel like really special bucket list trips- and my god, do I feel lucky about it. But truly letting go and spending time with one another just can’t be beat, and I’m vowing to make sure that whether it’s home or away (last years summer trip was to Cornwall and will always be one of my favourite holidays) we always make time to spend special time together- cheeeeeese!
So- that was our whistle stop trip to Mykonos! I really hope you’ve enjoyed following along with our little adventures and found the guide useful too. I have one more beauty themed holiday post going up next week, as well as a packing video over on YouTube, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for both of those too! Have a gorgeous weekend, folks!
