Point of View: Me, New York City, and the Punk Scene by Chris Stein

Never not buying books about 1970s New York! Here’s a brilliant one on the New York downtown scene by Blondie’s Chris Stein. Point of View: Me, New York City, and the Punk Scene looks like a time capsule of New York at its run down, romanticized best, encompassing legendary characters (William Boroughs, Iggy Pop, Andy Warhol) amongst city streetscapes and New York nightlife.

We’ve just bought a new bookcase so I’m allowed to indulge my photo book habit again. And I know it’s way too early to mention the ‘C’ word, but this would be a perfect Christmas pressie for a similarly New York fixated music, culture and photography obsessive…

Point of View: Me, New York City, and the Punk Scene by Chris Stein is published by Rizzoli in October.
