I find myself increasingly attracted to places in London that don’t feel at all like London. When entering Clifton Nurseries in Maida Vale, you can almost pretend you’re at a small garden centre out in the countryside somewhere. You can leave the busy streets behind you and settle in for tea and scones in what feels like a secret garden. I met a friend here for a meeting recently and was so in love with the place I thought I’d take a few snaps to share it with you.
Said to be London’s oldest garden centre, you’ll find beautiful glasshouses here full of plants as well as the cafe, so it’s the perfect excuse to pick up a few cacti after your brunch.
The cafe itself is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea, so you’re sorted whatever time you decide to head there. I couldn’t reccomend the cream tea enough (warm scones are always a winner), and will certainly be heading back to see what their lunch offering looks like.
If you’re planning an afternoon walking along the canals in Little Venice, make The Quince Tree your stopping point – it’s a hidden gem!
